Moses 40 days dry fast (no food or water) multiple times: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) and saw God— and received the tablets of the law by the finger of God, as he was with God for 40 days; and then another 40 days total fast to spare God’s people + physical transformation as his face shined— after being in God’s presence. [Exodus 24:18 & Deuteronomy 9:9]

Elijah 40 days dry fast: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) surviving on food and water (1 day’s worth) from an angel that came and fed him and watered him for his long 40 day (fasting) journey— after exhaustion and spiritual weariness. Then God showed up: a wind shattered rock, an earthquake, a blazing fire… then a still, quiet whisper— as God came forward unto him. [1 Kings 19]

Jehoshaphat: (He and God’s people prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) a corporate fast— concerning an army amassing against them, the Holy Spirit came upon a man to deliver a message... they would get victory.  A choir was first erected to go before the people, to sing at the front— giving thanks to God; and the Lord set ambushes— and there were no survivors left from amassing army, plus they gained spoils. 2 Chronicles 20:20 “Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”

Esther 3 days dry: (She prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) to stop the annihilation of all the Jews in the Persian Empire— and an entire nation of people were spared by God, as their enemies were overcome.  She was in total surrender (all in) to God about the outcome.  “If I perish, I perish.”  [Purim from henceforth: Esther 4:15–16].

Ezra: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) to gain safe passage for God’s caravan + riches and goods that needed to safely traverse from Babylon to Jerusalem. They humbled themselves and fasted at Ahava canal— armed with humility, faith, and spiritual protection as they arrived safely (per the Lord). [Ezra 8:21–31]

Daniel no food, then a 3 week no savory foods: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted) and Gabriel (the angel) showed up giving him prophecy regarding the 70 weeks in the book of Daniel, concerning— the end of captivity: to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel. Another time he ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine, and an angel showed up— giving more prophecy (which provided a step-by-step road-map of the political conflicts that would engulf the Jewish people over the subsequent centuries, Daniel 11 & 12); and spiritual warfare was successful with Michael— against the Prince of Persia (Daniel was in Babylon at the time). [Daniel 9:3-4 (strict fast), 24–27, Daniel 10:2–3 (no savory foods— considered a partial fast)]

Nehemiah fasted certain days: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted), and Nehemiah was fasting because of the report he received concerning God’s people, which stated— that the survivors were in "great distress and reproach," and that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and its gates destroyed by fire (Nehemiah 1:3).  He was the cup-bearer to king Artaxerxes of Persia (Babylon area again) and gained favor with the governing king; to which he received royal funding and military accompaniment to travel back to Jerusalem, as well as to rebuild the ruins of, and was appointed governor of Judah— by the king; and the king decreed that his forest would supply Nehemiah with timber to rebuild the city gates and walls. During his fast Nehemiah confessed both his personal sins and the corporate sins of the nation of Israel. He reminded God of His covenant promises to gather His scattered people if they returned to Him, and specifically prayed for "favor in the sight of this man"—referring to the Persian king (Nehemiah 1:5–11). [Nehemiah chapters 1 & 2]

Hannah did not eat: (She prayed, praised, worshiped, vowed, and fasted) —that her child, if God gave her a son, she would return him to the Lord to serve God, and no razor would come upon his head: When confronted by the prophet Eli she was thought drunk— but she was in quiet prayer to the Lord; and Eli answered and said— Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him: and baby Samuel came forth.  [1 Samuel Chapter 1]

Anna: (She prayed, praised, worshiped, fasted), and got to see Jesus as a baby and give thanks to God: she served God with fastings and prayers night and day. [Luke 2:36–38]

Jesus 40 days dry: (He prayed, praised, worshiped, and fasted), and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness— to be tempted of the devil. The 40-day fast was a period of intense spiritual preparation and warfare that immediately followed Jesus' baptism by John— to accomplish a full anointing with power for what lay ahead of him (in mission). While the scriptures detail to us 3 temptations, it is regarded that Jesus was being actively tempted by the devil throughout the entire 40-day duration— concerning: his identity and mission.  At the end of the 40 fasting, prayer, and temptations— he defeated satan in the power of the Holy Spirit, and by using the logos Word of God.  And where Adam failed in a perfect garden by eating forbidden fruit, and where the nation of Israel failed during their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, Jesus, the "Last Adam"—remained completely sinless and obedient under the harshest conditions in the desert; and he became the high priest, as he could empathize perfectly with human frailty (Hebrews 4:15).  And that fast broke the enemy's influence or power over ‘son of man’ (first Adam condition), bringing forward the New Man (maturely unified with the Father and Holy Spirit) —Christ Jesus, in full union with the Father. Luke 4:14 records that immediately following the fast, "Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee," officially beginning His public ministry of preaching, healing, and casting out demons.  [Matthew 4:1–11, Mark 1:12–13, and Luke 4:1–13]

So— whether you are seeking the Lord for purposes of connecting with the Spirit of the Law of Life in Christ Jesus, for the body of Christ’s healing and deliverance, or to be physically transformed like Moses’ face shinning…

Or, because you may be facing exhaustion and spiritual weariness in your journey, like Elijah, and need angelic help via the Lord God and his love and provision…

Or, an army is amassing against you (literal or spiritual) and you need a corporate, unified praise, worship, and fasting to come forward for victory, with singing leading the way, where God comes forward and defeats the adversary with ambushes, like Jehoshaphat…

Or, the people of God are facing annihilation for some reason, a detrimental situation arises by dark powers, and the people of God are in need of our supernatural Creator and Savior to come through for them, as they give their total surrender to God, like Esther…

Or, needing supernatural safe passage or provision, and all circumstances met to arrive home safely out of enemy territory, like Ezra…

Or, like Daniel, to have prophecy and provision come forth, an end to captivity, and a road-map for the political weather ahead concerning God’s people, with successful spiritual warfare and encounters with Gods’ messengers (angels)…

Or, you need help rebuilding the ruins, for God’s people are in great distress and reproach, for their walls have been broken down, and the gates destroyed, needing military support and provisions to rebuild, in your governmental positions of service as you fast and pray and confess your sins and the sins of the body, like Nehemiah…

Or, you are seeking to be blessed and prosperous in bearing and bringing forth good fruit (in this case a baby), where the womb that brings forth was previously barren, as you give all petition, honor, reverence, obedience, and sacrifice to the Lord God, like Hannah…

Or, desire to see Jesus, as you attend at the altar in the temple, giving thanks to God continuously with fastings and prayer, like Anna…

Or, you seek in your wilderness temptations period (as led of the Spirit of God), that you would overcome the devil by the Word of God, coming through intense spiritual warfare training and equipping, following your baptism, to come forth in fullness of maturity and demonstration of power and authority over darkness, coming into your identity and mission in the earth, in obedience to the Word of God, way, and truth in the harshest of conditions, your role in the priesthood, into the finished work of God in you (second Adam new man), whilst gaining empathy for your fellow man’s spiritual plight in earth and heaven, to bring forth your earthly ministry of union with our heavenly Father, like Jesus…..

Then understand: Fasting & Prayer, combined— IS A SUPERNATURAL POWER-PUNCH TO THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS, as men and women subdue the earth (flesh), take up the yoking (prayer and agreement) with the living God, worship the living God, whilst having faith in the living God, and their identity as sons of God.

Fasting & Prayer— not an option for the overcomer in and of Christ Jesus: but FULL of supernatural possibility!!!
