“There is therefore now [immediately, henceforth] no [none, nothing, not any] condemnation [adverse sentence and verdict] to those who are in [a fixed position in place or state of beinginstrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] Christ Jesus

—who walk [tread around at large— as proof and ability, living and deporting oneself (conducting oneself in a specified manner) to follow a companion or votary (a person who has made vows of dedication)] NOT after [joined to, according to] the flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded]

but [contrariwise— in the opposite way or order] after [joined to, according to] the Spirit [breath of spirit— the rational soul and vital principle of mental disposition of the divine God in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind].

2 For the law [food, grazing and general regulation of the principle law] of the Spirit [breath of spirit— the rational soul and vital principle of mental disposition of the divine God in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] of life [lifetime] in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] Christ Jesus

has made me free [liberated, made exempt from, morally and ceremonially, and mortally liable, delivering and making me free] —from [separation away from] the law [food, grazing and general regulation of the principle law] of sin [offenses] and death [literally (physically) or figuratively (spiritually/symbolically)].

3 For what the law [food, grazing and general regulation of the principle law] could not do [was unable to accomplish for weakness, making it impossible and impotent] —in that it was weak [feeble, impotent— unable to take effect, helpless or powerless] through [denoting a channel, and way of import] the flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded]

God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] sending [dispatching in departure, ordering into motion, bestowing and wielding] his own Son [kin, kinship— blood relation] in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into]

the likeness [form and resemblance, similitude and shape] of sinful [offensive] flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded], and [cumulatively] for [with respect to, and occasion of the matter of circumstances of] sin [offenses], condemned [judged against— that is sentenced and damned] sin [offenses] —in the flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded]:

That [demonstrative in purpose and result] the righteousness [equitable deeds, statute and decisions, ordinances and judgments] of the law [food, grazing and general regulation of the principle law]— might be fulfilled [made replete— filled and well supplied, crammed into, leveled up in, furnished, imbued with, influenced by, executed in, finished— as in a task, verified and accomplished, being fully preached and completed] in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] us

5 For [in reasoning] they that are [being] after [joined to, according to] the flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded]

do mind [exercise the mind, and entertain in sentiment or opinion— and are mentally disposed, in interesting oneself unto, setting affections on] the things of the flesh [carnal human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally minded];

But [moreover now] —they that are after [joined to, and according to] the Spirit [breath of spirit— the rational soul and vital principle of mental disposition of the divine God in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind], (do mind) the things of the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind].

6 For [reasoning] to be [mentally inclining and purposing] carnally [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions, carnally] minded [mental inclination and purpose] is death [literally (physically) or figuratively (spiritually/symbolically);

but [moreover] to be spiritually minded [minded mentally, inclined and purposed of the breath of spirit— the rational soul and vital principle of mental disposition of the divine God in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind], (do mind) the things of the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind]

—is life [and a lifetime] and peace [prosperity— set at one again + quiet rest].

7 Because [on the very account that, insomuch as] the carnal [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal] mind [mental inclinations and purposing]— is enmity [hostility, by reason of opposition in hatred] against God: for [by reason] it is NOT subject [subordinate in obedience to, and put under] to the law [food, grazing and general regulation of the principle law] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] —neither indeed [by reason] can be [able, possible, or of power].

8 So then [moreover] they that are [being] in the flesh [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal] cannot [isn’t able or possible to] please [excite in emotions, be agreeable with] God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity].

9 But you are [being] NOT in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] the flesh [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal], but in the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind]

if so be [if perhaps seeing] that the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] —of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] —dwells [occupies a house, and resides, inhabits therein: cohabitates] in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] you.

Now [moreover] if any man has [holds, in condition and possession] NOT the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] of Christ— he is none [absolutely not] of his.

10 And if [conditionally] Christ be in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] you —the body [the FORMER] is dead [a corpse, dead— literally or figuratively, spiritually/symbolically]—because [channeling and import] of sin [offenses];

but [moreover] the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] is life [and a lifetime] —because of righteousness [equity— of same character or actions, justification— action of showing something to be right or reasonable].

11 But if [conditionally] the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] of him that raised up Jesus [collected in faculties, awakened and roused from a diseased state of death and ruins] from the dead— dwells [occupies the house, resides, inhabits therein and cohabitates with] in you —he that raised up Christ [collected in faculties, awakened and roused from a diseased state of death and ruins] from the dead [figuratively or literally]—shall also, quicken [vitalize and make alive again] your mortal [liable to die] bodies [sound whole; sound— in good condition, not damaged, injured, or diseased]

—by his Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] that dwells [occupies the house, resides, inhabits therein and cohabitates with] in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] YOU.

12 Therefore [certainly and accordingly], brethren [womb brothers], we are [have our being as] debtors [owe, indebted to], NOT to the flesh [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal] —to live after [joined to, and according to] the flesh [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal].

13 For if [conditionally] you live after [joined to, and according to] the flesh [human nature— opposite the spirit and soul— human frailties physically or morally and its passions: carnal] —you shall die [literally physically, or figuratively spiritually]: but if you, through the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] do mortify [kill, literally or figuratively— put to death] the deeds [practices, actions and functions, the works] of the body [sound whole, figuratively— slave to] —you shall live.

14 For [by reason] as many as are led [driven, brought, pass in time, induced— succeed in persuading and influenced] by the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity]

—they are [being and agreeably] the sons [kin, kinship— blood relation] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity].

15 For [by reason] you have NOT [gotten ahold of and seized] received [taken hold of, or seized] the spirit [vital principles and disposition] of bondage [slavery] again —to fear [alarm or fright]; but you have received [taken hold of, or seized] the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] of adoption [placing as a son, sonship in respect to God], whereby we cry [scream, call aloud and in exclamation to] —Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself bears witness [testifies jointly, and corroborates with evidences] with our spirit [vital principles and disposition] —that we are [having our being as] the children [produce] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity]:

17 And if [conditionally] children [produce (products of— duplicated out fruits)] —then heirs [partitioned ones, getting apportionment, a share, a lot, inheritance— as a possessor]; heirs of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity], and joint-heirs [participants in common, together] with Christ—

If so be [if perhaps it be so seeing] → that we suffer with [experience pain, jointly (or joined to), or of the same kind], that [demonstrating and denoting purpose or result] —we may be [exalted in dignity of company with] also —glorified together [exalted in dignity of company with].

18 For [by reason] I reckon [inventory and estimate, conclude and suppose] that the sufferings [hardships, pain undergone, emotions or influences] of this present [immediate] time [occasion, set and proper time, opportunity and season] are not worthy [deserving, comparable or suitable to be praised] to be compared with the glory [dignity, honor and praise] which shall be revealed [uncovered and disclosed] in [into, and toward] us.

19 For [by reason] the earnest expectation [the head of watching, of intense anticipation] of the creature [formation, building of creation] waits [expectfully looks] for the manifestation [disclosure— appearing] of the sons [kin, kinship— blood relation] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity].

20 For [by reason] the creature [formation, building of creation] was made subject [subordinate in obedience] to vanity [inutility (no practical use), transientness (not lasting, or permanence) —moral depravity], not willingly [voluntarily] —but, by reason [the channeling of an act, and importing] of him who has subjected [or subordinately obeyed, and was put under obedience to, and subdued himself] —in hope [anticipation, with pleasure, expectation and confidence, of faith];

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered [liberated] from the bondage [slavery] of corruption [decay, ruin and destruction] into the glorious liberty [legitimate freedom, morally and ceremonially] of the children [produce— product] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity].

22 For [by reason] we know that the whole [all of] creation [formation and building of creation] groans [moans jointly, and experiences a common calamity, together] —and travails in pain together [having pangs, in company, sympathizing, in expectations of relief from suffering] —until [up to even] now [current and immediate].

23 And not only they— but [contrariwise] ourselves also [cumulatively], which have [hold, possess— in relation and condition] the firstfruits [beginning of sacrifice] of the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] —

even we ourselves groan [make sighs, in straits, and pray inaudibly murmuring with grief] within ourselves, waiting [expectfully looking] for the adoption [placing as a son— sonship of God], to wit— the redemption [ransom in full] of our body [sound whole of us].

24 For [by reason] we are saved [delivered, protected, healed, preserved and do well by, and made whole] by hope [anticipations with pleasure, expectation and confidence]: but hope that is seen [beholden, perceived, regarded and looked upon] —is not hope [anticipations with pleasure, expectation and confidence]: for what a man sees [beholds (already)]— why does he yet hope for [expect for it, and have confidence for] it?

25 But [moreover] if we hope [expect confidently] for that we see [behold, or perceive] NOT— then do we with patience [cheerful endurance and constancy, continuing]— wait for [expect fully, and look for] it.

26 Likewise [in same manner] the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] also helps [takes hold of, cooperates and assists] our infirmities [feebleness of body or mind, maladies, moral frailty, diseases and sicknesses]:

for we know not what we should pray for [supplicate to God and worship for] as we ought [should]: but the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind] itself —makes intercession for [intercedes on behalf of] us —with groanings [sighs] which cannot be uttered [they are unspeakable].

27 And he that searches [seeks to investigate] the hearts [the thoughts, feelings, mind, and middle of a person] —knows what is the mind [mentality, inclination or purposing] of the Spirit [breath, rational soul and vital principles of mental disposition of the divine God, in Christ— the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s mind]

—because he makes intercession for [intercedes on behalf of] the saints [sacred, morally pure and blameless, ceremonially consecrated, holy ones] —according [joined] to God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity].

28 And [moreover] we know that all things work together [cooperate together] for good [benefit]—to them that love [in a moral sense, love] God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity], to them who are the called[invited, appointed and are saints]—according [joined] to his purpose [setting forth in proposal and intention, the show bread of the Temple— exposed before God].

29 For [because] whom he did foreknow [know of beforehand, foresee and ordain— know before], he also did predestinate [limit in advance, that is predetermine beforehand] to be conformed [jointly formed, similarly formed and fashioned] to the image [likeness and statue profile (figuratively), the representation and resemblance] of his Son [kin, kinship— blood relation]—that he might be [exist— lust after, please well] the firstborn [first begotten]

among [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] many brethren [womb brothers].

30 Moreover, whom he did predestinate [limit in advance, that is predetermined beforehand], those he also called [bid forth], and whom he called— those he also justified [rendered and regarded just, or innocent— righteous]: and whom he justified— those he also glorified [rendered or esteemed glorious].

31 What shall we then say to these things?

If God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] be for [regarding superily] us— who can be against us?

32 He that [with emphasis or qualification, doubtless] spared [abstained to treat leniently] NOT his own Son [kin, kinship— blood relative], but delivered [surrendered, yielded, intrusted and transmitted, committed] him up for [for the sake of, instead, regarding] us all [any and all, wholly] —how shall he not with him [together in union, companionship, resemblance and possession] also freely give [grant, favor graciously in kindness and pardon, or rescue— frankly, forgive and freely grant] us all things [whatsoever]?

33 Who shall lay anything [call in debt or demand, bring an account or charge— incriminating, and calling into question] to the charge of God's [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] elect [those selected and favored]?

It is God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] who justifies [renders, shows, regards as just or innocent— righteous].

34 Who is he that condemns [judges against and sentences in damnation]? It is Christ that died— yea rather, that is risen again [collected one’s faculties, awakened, been roused from disease, death, obscurity, and ruins]— who is even at the right hand [right side hand that takes] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law), Most High deity] —who also makes intercession for [intercedes (intervenes as a go between) on behalf of] us.

35 Who shall separate [place away] us from the love [affections and benevolence, a love feast of charity] of Christ?

Shall tribulation [pressure and affliction, anguish, burdens and perceptions of trouble], or distress [narrowness, tightness constrained, calamity], or persecution, or famine [destitution, and scarcity of food— death and hunger], or nakedness [nudity], or peril [danger], or sword [war, or figuratively— judicial punishment]?

36 As it is written [described]— For your sake [account] —we are killed [put to death, literally or figuratively spiritually] all the day long (continually); we are accounted [estimated in inventory, concluded, esteemed, reckoned and supposed] as [in like manner to] sheep for the slaughter [sacrificial destruction].

37 Nay [contrariwise]— in all these things we are more than conquerors [vanquishing beyond, that is gaining a decisive (definite) victory] THROUGH [channeling in actions, and importing] him —that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded [convinced by argument, rely upon and am assured in belief and confidence, and trust]— that neither death, nor life, nor angels [messengers who bring tidings], nor principalities [commencing of chief ones in rank, first estate, magistrate powers, principle rulers], nor powers [forces of miraculous power, miracles themselves, strength, or violence], nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature—

shall be able [possible] to separate us [place us away from] —from the love [affections and benevolence, a love feast of charity] of God [the supreme magistrate (judge and one who administers the law) —Most High deity] —which is in [a fixed position in place or state of being— instrumentally (important influence that causes something to happen), constructively (a way that has or is intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose), medially (centered)— in relation, a resting in— imported (transferred in) brought into] —Christ Jesus, our Lord [supreme authority, controller, and respectful master].”
